Finally don’t forget your chest of drawers. Ideally it should match either your bed, or your bedside cabinets, or maybe even both.  Drawers need to be roomy, yet sturdy enough to hold plenty of clothing. Of all of the furniture items in a bedroom these get the hardest time, after all, we all have these stuffed to the brim, especially in winter when storing knitwear, jeans, heavy socks etc.

If choosing modern style bedroom furniture you will need to be aware that many of the new chests of drawers are quite long & low, & may not have enough room for everything.  They look great in large Italian rooms, but in our small UK bedrooms might not quite be large enough.
