Themed Headboards – Building a Decade Themed Bedroom

metal bedroom furniture

ored with the design in your bedroom and looking for something new and different to do in the space? Have you thought about creating a theme in your bedroom inspired by the style of a particular decade or era? This can greatly affect your mood upon entering the room and spice up the place by reflecting your inner personality. One of the best focus points with which to accomplish this is through the use of headboards, since they are typically one of the largest and most prominent pieces in the room. Whether you are inspired by modern design and have contemporary bedroom furniture or have some other time period in mind and want to travel back to that decade, the headboard of your choice can make it all come together.

For those who are obsessed with the Renaissance and Middle Ages, you may find that a theme of iron and wood portrays your innermost thoughts best. Wrought iron headboards can really reflect the style of the times in several ways, since this was a standard material for bedding at the time and also denotes the fierceness of the era with its cold harshness. You can find these with intricately woven designs or hard, cold straight bars and right angles, the latter of which was more common in the Medieval era while the former became the style during the Renaissance.

If you are a little more interested in recent past, you may find that a wooden headboard will suit your needs. Depending on the style, these headboards can be used to signify several eras, ranging from the Old West to the Puritan era and even up to the mid-20th century. In fact, wood is still a popular medium for a headboard today, so if you choose the style that matches your era of interest, you’ll be able to use wood for almost any purpose.
While not the first time they were available, bookcase headboards really came into popularity in the 1980’s. If you’re feeling a little New Age flare or late disco fever, this might be the decade for you. Use the shelving to house your disco ball and lava lamp (left over from the 70s), as well as your books on evolution and pop culture. Be sure you have pictures of Rick Springfield and Cyndi Lauper on the walls, too!

If all else fails, you can use prints to denote the style of your room and the era for which you are decorating. Upholstered headboards make it simple and fun to create a theme for your bedroom, allowing you the ability to redecorate often with ease and just a piece of cloth and a few staples. Use paisley for the 70s, fluorescent shades for the 60s, all black to recognize the Gothic wave of the 90s, or flashy metallic colors for the new millennium. Whatever your preferred era is, you can find a way to create a bedroom theme around it with headboards as your centerpiece and the draw to attention for any visitor. Let your personality loose and give it a try!

Bedroom Furniture in Italy – Molto Bella!

metal bedroom furniture

Italy is a leader in fashion and design, second only to France and the Parisian shopping district that is the fashion capital of the world. When trends are set and forwarded to New York, they come from one of these two locations. That includes not only clothing but home and furniture designs as well. In order to be hip and in the know, it’s important for designers in the United States to make pilgrimages abroad and see what the latest and greatest offerings are across the Atlantic. In terms of bedroom furniture, Italy has turned to the simplistic use of platform beds, which are modern and basic, with sleek lines and sharp angles.

In today’s society, people change their minds frequently and want instant gratification. That’s true the world over, even in places like Italy where the lifestyle is a little slower paced and less rushed. That means that, if someone wants their furniture to last through the changes in trends and personal style, it is essential for the pieces to be as generic as possible. Contemporary beds designed out of Italy are being manufactured this way specifically for such a purpose. Of course, because the furniture is meant to last through numerous redecorations and for many years ahead, the beds produced here are of the highest quality. At the same time, Italians are frugal and won’t spend more than necessary, looking for the best value for their buck.

Of course, in Italy just as in many European nations, the apartments or “flats” as they are called are much smaller than what people are used to in the United States, so furniture has to accommodate the space available. This leads to combination pieces like bookcase headboards, which offer a place to store books and other important items that need to be accessible while not taking up extra space. It will also grace the head of the bed with style that reflects personal taste and a sense of self through the items that are chosen for display.

The trundle day bed is especially popular when it comes to roommates sharing one of these small flats, most of which are no bigger than the living rooms in a typical American home. This allows for seating on the sofa bed portion during the day, which is transformed into a bed at night, as well as a second bed that can be put away during the day to clear up more floor space.

Even in larger houses, rooms are not as spacious as those in North America, so king sized furniture is not the best option. Instead, Italians are more likely to purchase queen wood beds, choosing wood because of its durability and stylistic appeal. And, in order to provide a very basic canvas upon which to build a new design or theme, many Italians will take advantage of the plainness of platform beds. This creates the opportunity to quickly wipe the slate clean and start anew without spending a fortune on new furniture with each whim.

The Bedroom Every Single Woman Needs

classic bedroom furniture

Every woman wants to have the perfect bedroom, and as a single lady, you don’t have to worry about stripping your husband’s masculinity with your design. That means that it’s time to take control of that bedroom and bring it into spec for what makes you happy and cozy. Maybe you haven’t thought about the best way to do that, or perhaps you haven’t considered all the options. One way to make the bedroom your own is to create custom headboards to adorn your bed according to your mood. Another is to leave behind the traditional idea of a bed and create and entire haven and private getaway in your bedroom with daybeds.

If you choose to work with headboards, you need to explore your personal style. Are you the type of person who likes to be surrounded by all of her favorite things? Do you want to have anything you desire within easy reach from the center of your bed? One way to accomplish this is with bookcase headboards. This design serves dual purposes. First, it organizes the space and makes it look clean and well cared for. However, it also makes your bed the lazy space you want it to be; you can easily stow all your books, magazines, and other items in the shelves and drawers, as well as set up any drinks or snacks you bring with you to the room.

If you prefer, though, you can keep a clean, straight line with minimalistic overtones as the theme to your bedroom with a contemporary headboard. This will give you a blank slate against which you can create any theme design throughout the rest of the bedroom. It also allows you to have a basic central point in the room around which you can change the design, providing a plain background against which the d?r can revolve and evolve.

If you choose to try something more unique, you can opt for a daybed in your space, taking the opportunity as a single woman to indulge in a very feminine design. With a wrought iron daybed, you can keep things rustic or classical with an intricate design and the opportunity to add ruffles and lace all over the room. The real joy of a daybed for your bed is that it doubles as a couch that can be perfect during the day when you want to sit up and do some work in a relaxed fashion, watch television, or read a book.

For some, the classic style is no the way to go. Instead, you may again (as mentioned above) be a fan of clean lines and sharp right angles. A contemporary daybed can give you this appearance and comfort level. This design can also be the basis for a Feng Shui design theme that brings out your inner peace and allows you to meditate in the personal space you have created for yourself. Whatever choices you make, every single woman should take advantage of the opportunity to build her own personal woman’s lounge in her bedroom before she has to learn to do the unspeakable and share the space, sparing the feelings of her mate!

Can an Upholstered Headboard Make Your Bedroom Romantic?

metal bedroom furniture

If you’ve wondered if an upholstered headboard can make your bedroom romantic, you need not think any more. The truth is that it is not the headboards that create the romantic aura in your bedroom but the combination of upholstered headboards and the aromatic essence of the entire room in general. Certainly if you choose a headboard that is flashy and detracts from the romantic essence of the room, but when you take the time to choose the right upholstery that is going to coordinate with the other things in your bedroom to create just the right atmosphere, you will create romanticism in your headboard.

Leather headboards are also very popular and though not as colorful as upholstery, they can provide a romantic atmosphere for some people. The key is in the way the room is designed and how the headboard itself fits in with that décor. Upholstery is much easier to blend in with various types of décor and color schemes and thus can provide a more romantic aura to the room than leather which tends to be more basic in design. Certainly that does not mean it’s impossible to blend a leather headboard into a romantic bedroom atmosphere but the need to be more creative exists with this combination.

Many people have a preference for wrought iron headboards but if you are looking for a romantic look, you may have to be creative adding some color and creating an upholstered look to the wrought iron. That doesn’t mean that you should not buy a headboard of wrought iron because it is a very beautiful and sturdy piece of furniture, but if you are looking for a romantic look you will need to do some more work. An upholstered headboard is much easier to create into just the look you want because of the way it is made and the ability you have to customize it to your liking.

Bookcase headboards are usually wooden thus making them easier to upholster than wrought iron headboards. Not everyone chooses to take the time or money to change the look of bookcase headboards, but when you give them an upholstered look that blends in with the rest of the décor in your bedroom you can create the romantic look that you wish to achieve. That doesn’t mean you need to cover the headboard in upholstered cushions—cloth is just perfect and probably better since you can change it as you change the décor of your room.

You don’t have to use a bookcase headboard to get the wood look—you can choose a wooden headboard and also create the upholstered look. You don’t necessarily need to have an upholstered headboard but what you do need to creativity and the desire to make your bedroom into a romantic place for you and your partner or spouse to share intimate moments as well as sleep. The aromatic and romantic aura of your bedroom will make both love and sleep comfortable and satisfying.
