People taste normally depends on rooms circumstances i.e. if they have big bedroom or dining room, they would like to decorate their bedroom traditionally with the traditional style bedroom furniture same as if they have large dining room they chose traditional style dining room furniture.

In this decade, newly constructed homes are not big enough, they have small dining room and bedroom where they cannot decorate them with traditionally, so they chose modern furniture to decorate their modern homes. The Importance Of Providing Child Sized Seating In Your Home

baby bedroom furniture

From the time they learn to sit up, you provide your child with different types of seats. Each of these seats has a different purpose in mind. Car seats and then booster seats are made to keep your child safe while riding in a vehicle. Potty seats are for a completely different purpose. Then there are the seats that keep your child upright while eating meals whether you use the type that stands free or the ones that hook onto the table at mealtime.

Even the walkers that babies learn to push themselves along in are types of seats as are the ones that go in the bathtub to support them while they take their first baths. It isn’t until your child becomes functional in nearly every way that you begin to expect him or her to sit on the adult sized sofa or recliner to relax or watch TV.

When you think about it, it is perfectly reasonable to want to provide your child with a seat that is comfortable and just the right size for lounge time or time spent with the family. Imagine having to spend your down time on a sofa that was so large you had to climb up or be helped up onto it. Instead, you can offer your child the option of having his or her own seat that will be at just the right level to enjoy the TV or to accompany a table where a number of activities can be performed.

Having a “just my seat” will make your child feel important and special. It gives him a place that is just for him. Adding a table to the set will also provide a place for eating meals and sharing time with friends. It is a great way for him or her to socialize with other children and to have alone time as well.

A table will be a great place to do artwork, work puzzles, and read books. It will be more comfortable for any child than sitting at a table that is made for adults and that requires sitting on knees and stretching across a tabletop.

You can choose to get one type of seat that is flexible for a number of purposes or choose different styles to use in different areas. For instance, a recliner, rocker, or bean bag will work for a living room, den, or family room where watching TV and playing games is the biggest past time. If you choose to get a table set that will go in the bedroom or in the dining area for table work or eating meals, you can still choose the type of seating. Some pieces are sold separately so that you can choose from those that fold up and go with you or from those that are made of soft fabric and will be lightweight and easy to carry.

The versatility available in children’s sized seating guarantees that you can make a choice that will make your child feel good about sitting in his or her own spot.

Planning for Tomorrow

baby bedroom furniture

Following is part three of an interview with Phyllis Slater, owner of Slater Solutions LLC.  Ms. Slater has devoted years to providing coaching and concierge services to the working caregiver and aging parent.  Visit Phyllis Slater’s website simply by Googling the name Phyllis Slater.

Q. Why should we plan for tomorrow now?

A. Possible situation… I have vision difficulties but can still live without assistance.  However, a year from now I may need help with cooking, cleaning, shopping, driving and paying bills.

Medications can be placed in a pre-programmed medication dispenser with monitoring company assistance.  If the medication is not taken in a reasonable period of time, the company will call my son.  Non-medical in-home care will be hired to attend to all these needs.

If I fall on the coffee table and spend a week in the hospital, the geriatric managers may recommend a rehabilitation center for treatment.

Whether I am able to return home or must move to a living facility, my family will hire an organizer to come in and rearrange furniture, lower items in the kitchen so they can be reached, removed unwanted items, and boxed up rarely used items.

A real estate agent will already be chosen, but not hired, just in case I must sell the home.  Again, that is planning for the unknown.  Whatever the outcome, the stress of last minute decision-making has been reduced.

Remember that part of this relocation process is finding a reliable moving company, and now there are companies that, for a fair rate, will pick up unwanted items.

Now, there are Adult Day Care Centers for individuals with mental challenges.  Our senior center has one that gives family caregivers some respite time –providing the social interaction they need.

If I cannot return home because of extra caregiving needs, it may be appropriate to move into an Assisted Living facility, which is private pay.  Assisted living facilities allow residents to feel more independent while having 24/7 caregiving when needed.  Having social interaction with peers can reduce depression and keep the mind more alert.  There are Continuing Care Facilities that have Independent, Assisted Living and Nursing Care all on the same property — for easing into each other while being accessible to friends created on-site.

Spending time in the elder care field, I planned ahead by contacting a Long Term Care Insurance Specialist.

Next, my son was made legal guardian with all my finances in both of our names (Elder Care Attorney).  In addition, my Financial Planner has made wise investments for me over the years.  I made sure my son and other family members have copies of all paperwork.  Each child understands the reason for my decision-making.

My friend did not plan ahead of time, has no money for care, and applied for Medicaid.   This is why I am so passionate about planning ahead.  This may mean that she will have to go into a nursing home rather than the assisted living facility.

A small amount of Assist Living facilities qualify for Medicaid Waiver programs.  This means that Medicaid would pay some of the cost, which is great for those with financial difficulties.  However, the waiting list for an opening could take years.  Talk with a government agency about the options available in the meantime.

Another option is to live at home with 24/7 care, and use the equity of the home for a Reverse Mortgage.  This option is a safety net, allowing for quality care in the comfort of your own home.  There are advantages and disadvantages with using a Reverse Mortgage, so check with the Reverse Mortgage Specialists before making a decision.  The key is to learn about it now.  If you don’t use this, pass the information to others later.

In some states there are Senior Foster Homes, which are residential homes with 24/7 on-site care.  With only four bedrooms, each resident receives personal care and can participate in responsibilities — such as setting the dinner table.  These homes can take the place of an assisted living or even nursing home.  Professional staff is hired or the owner could be a licensed nurse.  This is a great option but also requires private pay.

Hospice care is now provided in the home, the care facility, or their own hospice faculties.  The requirement is usually a paper from the doctor saying it is predicted a person’s life will end within six months.  Naturally, if this does not happen, the care should still be available.  Different states may have different requirements for keeping hospice beyond that time.  This is a service that is sadly underutilized.  To my knowledge, there is no cost to the family for this service.

Do’s and Don’ts of Bedroom Furniture

Bedroom Furniture

Decorating your bedroom should not be a job that you rush through. It takes time, preparation and planning to create the perfect space for your bedroom. Your bedroom is probably the most important room of your home, it’s where you will relax at the end of a hard days work, it’s where you can retire and read your book, it’s where you need to feel complete harmony and tranquility to get a good nights sleep each night. Here are some do’s and don’ts to follow when choosing your bedroom furniture and decorating your bedroom.

- Do make paper plans of your bedroom before you do anything else! Before you pick up a paint brush, before you purchase your bedroom suite, before you even say the word ‘bedroom’ you should have already made a plan of your bedroom and detailed out where your furniture will go, have an array of colour charts to show the colour scheme and a carefully selected range of fabrics. Preparation is key.

- Don’t be afraid to experiment. There is a common theme today that the plainer it is the better it is and this is true to an extent and for some people but there is also nothing wrong with choosing a colour scheme or a set of bedroom furniture that really shows off your personality and character. The key to this is for every extravagant choice whether it’s a piece of furniture or choice of paint, have a plain choice next to it to balance it out. For example you may want to choose a bold red for the walls but you are a fearful it is too much, why not have one wall in the deep red and the rest of the walls in white or an off white, extravagance plus plain equals perfection.

- Do shop around for your bedroom furniture. You may think all high streets sell the same bedroom furniture sets so what is the point of going from place to place and wasting time! Even if you only go to three shops make the time and go, you will be surprised at the different suites you will see. You are going to be living with this furniture for the next couple of years and so taking out a day or two finding the perfect furniture set isn’t too much to ask, you never know what golden treasurers you may come across.

- Don’t be afraid to ask for advice. Do you have a vision of how your bedroom can look but you aren’t a 100% sure how to pull it off? Don’t let pride or shyness get in the way go to your local paint shop or furniture store and ask them what they think, or maybe your next door neighbour is an interior designer or you love your friends decorating and want to know how they did it, ask! No question is silly.
